That's What Friends Are For is a Sesame Street song (which I would like if it weren't for the tired lyric, so I have mixed feelings about it, but hey, that's just me) about not minding things.

Sesame Street - That's What Friends Are For

Lyrics Edit

Ernie: I am messy.

Bert (spoken): Very messy.

Ernie: But you don't mind if I am messy.

If I'm messy, you don't mind it, that's what friends are for.

You like pigeons.

Bert (spoken): I love 'em!

Ernie: Well, I don't mind if you like pigeons. If you like 'em, I don't mind it. That's what friends are for.

Friends help you put away your toys.

Friends don't mind if you make a little noise.

(at this point, Bert asks, "A little noise, like what?" and Ernie says, "Like this" and plays his drums. Bert then mentions that he's tired, which is the part I don't like)

You are tired. Really tired. Well, I don't mind if you are tired. If you're tired, I don't mind it. That's what friends are for.

Friends always lend a helping hand.

Friends are the kind of folk who understand.

And they don't mind it

(at that point he tries to ask Bert if he agrees, but Bert has fallen asleep.)

You are sleeping, really sleeping.

But I don't mind if you are sleeping.

If you're sleeping, I don't mind it.

That's what friends are for.

That's what friends.

That's what friends.

That's what friends.

That's what friends are for!

(Note: Bert has woken up and gone to sleep in the kitchen)

Trivia Edit

  • I once had a daydream that an extra verse was added "it is chilly, very chilly, but I don't mind if it is chilly." This matches my personality as, just like Frozen's Elsa, I am not often bothered by the cold.
