Sesame Street - The Rain Song

Lyrics Edit

Bob: Oh, I could watch the rain for hours as it waters little flowers, it helps the grass and trees to grow. With a hey, nonny, nonny and a ho ho ho.

David: The rain will wash the street. The birdies wash their feet. And when it stops, they sing so sweet. Tweet tweet.

Bob: With a hey, nonny, nonny and a ho ho ho.

Olivia: And I really like the notion; rain fills up our lakes and ocean, giving fish a place to swim. With a hey, willow, Whaley, willow whim.

Bob: With a hey, nonny, nonny and a ho ho ho.

David: Tweet tweet.

Olivia: Willow whim.

Bob: But you have figured out, I bet.

David: That while we're singing, we are getting wet.

Bob and Olivia: We are getting wet!

Olivia: And if we really used our brains,

All: We would take our song outside and get in out of the rain.

Fa la la la la la la la la la la la la la lie.

Let's stop singing and get dry.

Olivia and Bob: Fa la la la la la la la la la la la la la lear.

Leap and we'll get out of here.

Bob: Fa la la la la la la la la la la la la la long.

I wish that I could stop this song.

Fa la la la la la la la la la la la (speaking) Oh, enough of this rot already, get me out of here.

Trivia Edit

  • Bob's personality is somewhat consistent to another song he sang about rain, this time with Oscar, as in both songs, he appreciates the agricultural importance of rain. However, in the other song, he didn't seem to mind getting wet in the rain, and he wasn't even wearing a raincoat then!
